Q: Will Myth II be released for both the Mac and the PC? Will it be on a hybrid disc like Myth:TFL was? A: Myth II will be supported by both platforms.
It is unknown whether Bungie will release it on a hybrid disc yet, though
the only conceivable reason they wouldn't would be lack of space.
Q: What improvements will be made to the Myth II engine? Is it the same basic engine, or has it been rewritten? A: To quote Bungie: "The game engine has been massively rewritten. There are a number of improvements, including: A 4X finer mesh that will make for more realistic
unit and more detailed terrain.
And more..."
Q: Among the various other improvements to Bungie.net 2.0, will third party maps be supported from the beginning? A: No. The new Bungie.net will also support login
searches that tells when friends and Order mates are online, game searches
across all of Bungie.net, and tournament only rooms.
* Q: We've heard about the editors, Fear and Lothing, shipping with Myth II. Are these the same editors used to make Myth:TFL? Will they be compatible with Myth:TFL? A: To quote Bungie: "No, it'll be a rewrite of the tools. The tools as they stand are user-unfriendly and feature-incomplete. We couldn't release those commercially in good conscience. "As to whether the Myth II tools will work with Myth, all I can say right now is "I dunno." My instinct is to say no (Myth's map mesh is 4x less detailed than Myth II's, and there will be things like animated models in Myth II that wouldn't work on Myth maps) but I couldn't give a definite answer one way or another. The tools are still in an embryonic state." * Q: Will scripting be allowed/included in Multiplayer? Do Fear and Loathing support scripting? A: To quote Bungie: "If by scripting you mean map actions (i.e. the only sort of scripting in Myth:TFL, allowing for predetermined unit movements and whatnot) then the answer is yes. "If by scripting you mean the return of Crappucino
(the Java-based scripting system that Alex Rosenberg took with him when
he left Bungie) then the answer is no."
* Q: Will we see dynamic time in Myth II? For example, if a map was big enough, could the sun actually move through the sky, with the clouds changing accordingly? A: To quote Bungie: "I suspect this is technically
possible (one of Jason's first technology demos for the original Myth was
a little sun bouncing across the landscape, reflecting off water etc.)
but I don't know if it's being worked on."
Q: Will second generation graphics cards, like my Voodoo 2, be supported? A: To quote Bungie: "Like its predecessor, Myth
II: Soulblighter takes full advantage of the highest-end game technology,
including support for 3D accelerator cards, while still supporting the
average gamer." So your answer is yes.
Q: What will the system requirements for Myth II be? A: Myth II requires Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 or MacOS
7.5 or greater, a Pentium 133 or 120 Mhz PowerPC, 16 MB RAM, a 2x CD-ROM
and a 28.8kbps modem for internet play.
